Kate Hudson Addresses ‘Song Sung Blue’ Drama: ‘I’m Not the Right Person to Speak to It’ (2026)

A family feud has erupted over the recent biopic "Song Sung Blue," with Kate Hudson finding herself at the center of a controversial situation.

The film, which stars Hudson and Hugh Jackman as Neil Diamond tribute band performers, has sparked anger from the real-life son of one of its central characters. Mike Sardina Jr., the son of Mike Sardina, claims he was intentionally excluded from the film despite being paid a meager sum to consult on the project. He goes as far as to call Hudson and Jackman "monsters."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hudson, 46, addressed the accusations, stating, "Honestly, I don't feel equipped to comment on this. Out of respect for the filmmakers, I'll defer to them on this matter."

"Song Sung Blue" is based on a 2008 documentary and tells the love story of Claire and Mike Sardina, with a focus on their time in the tribute band Lightning & Thunder. While Mike Jr.'s sister, Angelina Sardina, was portrayed in the film by King Princess, Mike Jr. himself was completely absent.

Both Mike Jr. and Angelina expressed their disappointment and anger in an interview with the Daily Mail shortly after the film's release. Mike Jr., 41, claimed that the film had "destroyed" his father's legacy, adding, "My father is rolling in his grave right now."

He further accused Hudson and Jackman of ignoring his existence, stating, "Every time those actors appear on national TV, they fail to mention me, even though I was the most important person in my father's life."

Angelina also shared her grievances, revealing that she had no contact with King Princess despite being paid to consult on the film, just like her brother. She emphasized that the only truthful aspect of the film was the love between her father and Claire.

The Post has reached out to Hudson and Jackman's representatives for further comment on the matter.

Meanwhile, Claire, played by Hudson, has been very involved in promoting "Song Sung Blue." She appeared alongside Hudson and Jackman at various premieres, and Hudson praised her during an interview, calling her "a wonderful woman" and expressing her happiness at getting to know her.

Hudson also spoke about the Golden Globe and Actor Award nominations she received for her performance as Claire, reflecting on how these accolades can reinvigorate an actor's passion for their craft.

But here's where it gets interesting: How will this family drama impact the film's reception and the careers of those involved? And will the controversy surrounding the film's portrayal of the Sardina family affect its box office success? These are questions that remain to be answered. What are your thoughts on this situation? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below!
