Immersive VR Experience: Testing the Latest Haptic Vest and Gloves (2026)

The world of virtual reality is taking a giant leap forward with the latest advancements in haptic technology. I recently had the opportunity to test out the newest haptic VR vest and gloves from bHaptics, and let me tell you, the experience was nothing short of mind-blowing.

At AWE 2026, bHaptics showcased an updated version of their TactGlove lineup, and the improvements were noticeable from the get-go. The addition of new haptic motors at the bottom of the palm significantly enhanced the immersion factor. Gamers had previously expressed that the lack of feedback between the fingers and the wrist motor diminished the overall experience, but bHaptics listened and delivered.

What makes this particularly fascinating is the attention to detail. The developers understood that the intensity of the haptic feedback needed to be consistent across the entire hand to create a truly immersive environment. And they succeeded. The new DK3 gloves provided a more uniform and intense sensation, especially with the larger and crisper VCM motor on the wrist.

I tried the spaceship demo, which was the same as the previous year's, and the difference was night and day. The new palm motors and the enhanced wrist motor made the experience feel more realistic and engaging. It's incredible how these subtle changes can transform a VR experience.

However, there's a catch. As with many innovative technologies, the price tag has increased. The TactSuit Pro vest, which received no updates, now retails for $565, a $65 jump from last year's price. The TactStuit Air, a lighter alternative, has also seen a significant increase, now costing $320. And the new DK3 gloves, despite their improvements, are priced at a steep $385.

In my opinion, the price increase is a reflection of the demand for more immersive VR experiences. As consumers, we crave that sense of presence and realism, and companies like bHaptics are pushing the boundaries to deliver just that. But it does raise a deeper question: at what point does the cost of innovation become a barrier to entry for the average consumer?

Despite the price hike, bHaptics' gear is still available, and for those willing to invest, the rewards are undeniable. The future of VR is bright, and with continued advancements in haptic technology, we can expect even more mind-bending experiences. It's an exciting time for gamers and VR enthusiasts alike.
