According to several sources familiar with ongoing discussions, the Trump administration is preparing to initiate immigration operations in Ohio as soon as next week. This operation is expected to specifically target Haitian nationals, especially as their temporary protected status is set to expire on February 3rd.
The situation becomes even more pressing considering that last year, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, ended the temporary protected status for Haitians, which means over 330,000 Haitian immigrants will lose their legal protections very soon. In Springfield, Ohio alone, there are an estimated 12,000 to 15,000 Haitians who could be affected by these developments. "We pray for the best but we are preparing for the worst," Dorsainvil remarked, encapsulating the anxiety that many feel in this tense climate.

Meanwhile, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's office also remained silent, although the governor himself stated he had no information about ICE's potential actions in Springfield.
Local law enforcement in Springfield has indicated they are actively collaborating with DHS, yet the city spokesperson, Karen Graves, confirmed, "We do not have any information or confirmation regarding a deployment plan."
This news follows a controversial immigration operation in Minnesota, with reports suggesting DHS may now be focusing on the Somali immigrant community in Maine.
